Retro is Back!

Not to mention, better than ever!

This season, what’s old is new again. I know this trend has been starting to blossom for a while now, but I still couldn’t be happier. Some might even call me giddy, but that’s neither here nor there. Anyway, I absolutely love to dress in modest (and by modest I do NOT mean frumpy or old), feminine clothing, and for awhile it’s been nearly impossible. Now that it’s time to start shopping for swimsuits again, I am loving that retro is sticking around!

Here are a few suits that I’ve been looking at (see: lusting after) for awhile now.

First up, we have the fabulous Michael Kors, who I can never quite seem to get enough of…fine, maybe it has something to do with my love for Project Runway too, but honestly I think these ruffles are gorgeous. However, I may or may not be scared to actually take this beauty swimming. I feel like chlorine and salt water might just completely destroy the perfection, and that I am not ok with.

The motto of Rey Swimwear? “Who says it has to be itsy bitsy?” Need I say more? Probably not, but I will, simply because I think they are awesome. First of all, the designer, Jessica Rey is an actress who played the white ranger in Power Rangers. Second, their collection is inspired by Audrey Hepburn, a woman who I find fascinating, and completely genius. After all, she was the one who said “I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles,” which is pretty much my life motto. Read more.

Whoever said retro couldn’t come in bikini form, was clearly mistaken. Check out this adorable Zebra print from Diane von Furstenberg!

And last but certainly not least, this little number is my all time personal favorite, but apparently it is no longer available! Now I normally don’t shop at Anthropologie because it can be very expensive, but I nearly cried when I saw that, so if any of you happen to know somewhere else that I can get it, I just may love you FOR. EVER. Seriously. :)

So there you have it! What do you guys think of this trend? Are you thinking of sporting it poolside or by the beach this summer, or would you rather stick with the everyday string bikinis? Whatever your opinion, let us know because we love to hear from you!
